-         In other words, it as a global data collection.

-         It is a network of networks that consists of millions of private and public (academic, business and government) networks from local to global scope.

-         These networks are linked by copper wires, fiber-optic cables, wireless connections and other technologies.

-         The Internet carries a huge collection of information, resources and services.

-         These are the inter-linked hypertext documents of the World Wide Web (WWW).

-         Contrary to the Internet, the WWW is a collection of interconnected documents and other resources, linked by hyperlinks and URLs.

-         In addition the infrastructure also has support for a number of services like:

o    The electronic mail (e-mail)

o    Online chat

o    File transfer and sharing

o    Online gaming,

o    Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), the person-to-person communication via voice and video.
